I’d love to see some opinions from people who agreed with me, and those of you who disagree with me and think I’m dead wrong.Welcome to r/SteamDeck, the subreddit for Valve's handheld computer. I’m glad I beat it since I’d like to beat every Spider-Man game that’s been released, but this is one I will NEVER be replaying. I’m currently playing through the Spider-Man: the movie game that came out in 2002 and that one holds up much better. I probably could’ve looked past the terrible gameplay and lazy game design just due to the fact that I’d be excited to be playing a game based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. I had more patience for shit games as a kid. I don’t know if I would’ve liked this game if I had played it when it came out. Especially when you fight Carnage, that was something that would’ve blown my mind as a kid as Venom and Carnage are some of my favorite villains. The only two redeeming qualities about this game to me is that it’s short and that you get to play as venom. The web swinging was okay I guess, i see people praise the web swinging as being the best of the older Spider-Man games and I disagree, I feel like spiderman 2 has the best web swinging. I’ll have to just read about the game to find out what the hell was going on with that story. The story wasn’t really interesting from the start and towards the end I was just so frustrated with the game that I didn’t care anymore I just wanted to rush through and be done. This may just have been due to me being impatient and not enjoying the game, but I don’t know. I’m not sure if there’s any strategy to boss fights but I just found myself jumping around like an idiot and occasionally running in for a hit. I could understand having one or two of these, but having 4-5 of these in a 5 hour game is just straight up lazy game design. There’s no point to these, it’s just filler, a way to pad out the length of the game. They’re designed to where you’ll have to fail and learn the pattern the enemy takes due to an excessive amount of beginners traps. These missions are often lengthy and there’s no checkpoints. You have to do random crimes and races around the city just to advance the story, and there’s several missions where you have to chase an enemy around the city. It was a short game, 5 hours or so but was FILLED with lazy filler missions. I was excited to make it to Ultimate Spider-Man since it’s the one that I missed out on for some reason, despite LOVING the Ultimate Spider-Man comics (they’re great, check them out) this game is commonly circlejerked on reddit as being one of the best Spider-Man games so that made me more excited there’s some great Spider-Man games out there, so if this one is one of the best then I should love it. I’ve always loved Spider-Man and I usually buy every Spider-Man game when it comes out, starting with the PS1 Spider-Man game from 2000.Įarlier in the year i started replaying the old Spider-Man games starting with the ps1 version I mentioned before. I’ve never been into superheroes in the slightest other than Spider-Man. Please use flair to display what games you’re currently playing, not a punch line, username, tag, URL, or signature.
